Come Alive in Christ

2 Nephi 25:26 “We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ”

We come alive in Christ through faith in Him. Talking of Christ and preaching of Christ increases our faith.  In this mortal life we live by faith; whereas, in our premortal life we lived more so by sight, for there we saw and lived with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as we dwelt in their presence.

Faith in the living Christ is the first principle of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. His life “is central to all human history,” for “he is the light, the life, and the hope of the world” (see “The Living Christ” by modern day apostles and prophets). Coming unto Christ is to come unto the standard of Christ, striving to become like Him.

Doctrine of Christ

2 Nephi 31:2 True Doctrine of Christ

True doctrine of Christ is knowledge and information about Christ and also the knowledge and information He teaches, His gospel. True prophets teach true doctrine of Christ; whereas, false prophets and teachers teach false doctrine about Christ and His ways.

Satan instills into the hearts of people falsehoods about Christ to stir them up to anger against that which is true. Salvation cannot be obtained by believing in false doctrine. Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Knowing the true doctrine of Christ prevents us from being “tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive” (Ephesians 4:14).

Faith in Jesus Christ

A major duty and obligation of church members and believers everywhere is to testify of Jesus Christ, that He lives and that He is the Son of God-the Savior of the world. A major purpose of the Bible and the Book of Mormon is to convince the world-both Jew and Gentile-that Jesus is the christ whose self-sacrifice was the perfect, infinite atonement for all mankind.

“Faith cometh by hearing.” As we bear testimony of Jesus Christ, more people will believe in Him, that He is. Faith in Christ is the first principle of the gospel. The foundation of one’s life must be faith in Jesus Christ, for this is life’s rock foundation that will never fail you.

The Rest of the Lord

The prophet Mormon, Moroni’s father, said,

“Wherefore, I would speak unto you that are of the church, that are the peaceable followers of Christ, and that have obtained a sufficient hope by which ye can enter into the rest of the Lord, from this time henceforth until ye shall rest with him in heaven.”

We can enter into the rest of the Lord, even now, and maintain this peace and rest forever. We can even rest with the Lord in heaven. This rest is peace, having the calm assurance that our lives are in harmony with His divine will and desires. We are in the obedient path of life. The world needs peace, and it starts with each individual person. In Christ comes all good things; therefore, come unto Christ and rest with Him and the Father, now and forever.

Random Acts of Kindness

Christ in america 3

The Bible Club of HPIAM enjoyed an inspiring lesson on Thursday regarding Loving One Another. We discussed the first and second greatest commandments which are to love God and then love others. Members were challenged to do a little more to extend a hand of fellowship and kindness to others.

Members were admonished to participate in the February 17 National Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is celebrated throughout the United States.

National Day of Prayer

For 2015 May 7 is the National Day of Prayer. The first Thursday of May is designated as the annual National Day of Prayer. This year’s theme is 1 Kings 8:28

“Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day.”

Today, like never before, we need to pray to God, Our Father, in the name of His Beloved, Son Jesus Christ. We must pray without ceasing to Him by having a prayer in our hearts at all times. We must utter a sincere prayer of gratitude and pleading each morning, noon, and at night. We depend upon Him for all our blessings. The world and society have and are turning away from God and God is not pleased; hence, famine, war, pestilence, anger, division, lovers of sin more than lovers of God.

In today’s world we are living in the perfect fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy recorded in Isaiah 5:20-21

20 ¶Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

May we “trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
